[세계뉴스 전승원 기자] 서울시의회 새정치민주연합(대표의원 신원철, 서대문1)은 27일 의원회관 2층 대회의실에서 서울시가 추진중인 ‘(가칭)동마을복지센터’ 사업의 추진방향과 주요 전략사업 대한 이해증진을 위한 정책간담회를 개최했다.

이번행사에는 신원철 대표의원을 비롯해 김인호 부의장과 서울시 임종석 정무부시장, 관계 공무원 등 100여명이 참석했다.

 
맹진영 의원(새정연, 동대문2)은 정책부대표의 사회로 서울시가 오는 7월부터 사업개시를 목표로 추진중인 동마을복지센터와 관련하여 추진계획과 복지정책의 새로운 틀을 제시하고 마을생태계 조성의 의미를 살펴보는 등의 주제발표에 이어, 참석자들의 질의와 응답의 순서로 진행되었다.

정책간담회는 서울시의회 새정치민주연합이 민선6기 ‘서울시정 4개년 계획’ 핵심과제 1단계 사업으로 서울시가 추진중인 동마을복지센터와 관련하여 서울시의원들의 효과적인 의정활동 전개에 도움이 되도록 마련한 것이다.

신원철 대표의원은 인사말을 통해, “‘(가칭)마을복지센터’는 주민들을 현장에서 만나 주민들이 필요로 하는 복지를 실현하기 위한 공간이다. 지난해 우리의 가슴이 먹먹해왔던 송파 세모녀 자살사건들을 보며 절감했던 복지의 사각지대 속에서 고통받는 우리의 이웃을 한 번 되돌아보고 따뜻한 관심을 갖게 되는 계기가 될 것”이라며 “이제 기다리는 복지에서 찾아가는 복지, 적극적인 복지행정의 틀로 바뀌어야 한다. 복지사각지대를 해소하여 보편적 복지가 실현되도록 주민들의 참여가 절실하다”고 말했다.

 
그는 “이번 제1차 새정치민주연합 서울시의원 정책간담회를 발판으로 앞으로도 서울시를 비롯하여 서울시교육청의 정책현안에 대해 간담회나 토론이 필요로 하는 주제를 선정하여 지속적으로 정책간담회를 정례화 해 나갈 계획”이라면서 “공부하는 의회, 정책중심의 의회를 위해 서울시의회 새정치민주연합은 항상 최선을 다 해 나갈 것이다”고 밝혔다.
