[세계뉴스] 조남식 기자 = 광역상수도(댐용수 포함) 요금이 23일부터 인상된다. 국토교통부(장관 강호인)는 한국수자원공사에서 지자체와 산업단지에 공급하는 광역상수도와 댐용수 요금을 광역상수도 등 물값심의위원회 심의 및 관계기관 협의를 거쳐 각각 톤당 14.8원(4.8%), 2.4원(4.8%)씩 인상한다고 밝혔다.

요금 인상 배경에 대해 국토교통부는 단계적인 요금현실화가 필요하다고 설명했다.

최근 10년간 물가는 27.5% 상승하였고, 각종 원자재 가격도 30.7% 오른 반면, 광역상수도와 댐용수 요금은 지난 10년간 한차례 인상(’13.1월, 4.9%)에 그쳐 생산원가의 84% 수준에 불과한 실정이다.

 
이번 인상으로 생산원가 대비 요금단가(요금현실화율)는 광역상수도의 경우 84.3%에서 88.3%로, 댐용수는 82.7%에서 86.7%로 높아진다.

이번 요금인상에 따라 일반 가정에서는 월 평균 약 141원의 부담이 증가할 것으로 추정된다.

광역상수도 및 댐용수를 공급받아 각 가정에 수돗물을 공급하는 지자체의 지방상수도 요금은 약 1.07%의 인상요인이 발생하며 지자체가 인상요인 해소를 위해 지방상수도 요금을 인상할 경우 가구당 추가부담액은 월 141원(13,264원/월⇢13,405원/월)이 될 것으로 예상된다.

한편 국토교통부에 따르면 이번 요금인상으로 노후관 교체, 수질개선 등 대국민 수도서비스 수준이 더욱 향상될 것으로 기대된다고 밝혔다.
