[서울=세계뉴스] 전승원 기자 = 서울시의회는 9일 오후 1시 의원회관 2층 대회의실에서 “신림선 경전철 고시촌역 신설을 위한 정책토론회”를 개최했다.

금년 4월 착공예정인 신림선 경전철은 11개역간 평균거리가 712m로 계획되어 있으나, 관악구 미림여고 입구역부터 관악산 주차장역까지는 역사간 간격이 1,120m로 통상적인 거리보다 훨씬 멀게 설정되어 있어 고시생과 지역주민 등이 경전철을 이용하는 데 큰 불편이 초래될 것으로 예상됨에 따라 지역주민들이 역사신설에 대한 청원을 제출한 바 있다.

 시의회 관계자에 따르면 관악구 해당지역 주민들은 신림선 경전철에 고시촌역을 신설해 줄 것을 요구해 왔다. 또한 지난 2월 24일에는 서울시의회 신언근 예결위원장(더불어민주당, 관악4)을 통하여 관악구주민 10,819명이 시의회에 청원을 제출하고, 해결방안을 촉구하고자 토론회를 개최한 것으로 확인된다.

시 관계자에 따르면 경전철 건설의 경우, 실시설계 승인이 확정되고 착공에 들어가면 역사 추가 신설, 출입구 증설 등에 대한 변경이 사실상 어려워져 본격적인 공사가 시행되기 이전에 문제를 해결하는 것이 공사기간이나 비용을 절감하는 방안이 될 수 있다는 입장이다.

이날 토론회에는 서울시의회 박래학 의장, 신언근 예결위원장, 박기열 교통위원장을 비롯한 서울시의원과 서울시 관계공무원, 한국교통연구원 최진석 철도교통본부장 등 관계분야 전문가, 유종필 관악구청장을 비롯한 지역주민 등 약 200명이 참석하여 고시촌역 신설을 요구한 것으로 전해진다.

토론자로 참석한 서울시 도시교통본부 이대현 교통기획관은 열차의 가감속이 이루어질 수 있는 거리 확보의 문제, 사업성 저하 문제, 사업 지연에 따른 역민원 발생 문제가 있음을 지적하였고, 도시기반시설본부 이정화 도시철도국장은 고시촌역을 신설할 경우 설계기간 증가와 토지보상비 증가 등이 문제될 수 있음을 제기했다.

지역주민 대표로 참석한 김운기 고시촌역 비상대책위원회 공동위원장은 “고시촌역 신설을 통해 반경 250m 안의 부지에 용적률을 높여 상업적 건물이 신축되면 대형 프랜차이즈 학원 등의 유치가 가능해져 지역경제가 활성화될 수 있어 현재 급격히 가속화되는 대학동 고시촌지역의 공동화 현상을 막을 수 있는 계기가 된다”는 점을 제시하며 주민교통편의 제고와 지역경제 활성화를 위해 대학동에 고시촌역 신설이 필요하다고 주장했다.

이석근 관악발전협의회 회장은 “당초 신성초교역앞에 예정되어 있던 역사를 미림여고입구로 위치를 변경한 것에 대해 공청회나 주민설명회, 전문가 자문의뢰 등을 통해 위치변경이 적정한지 파악할 필요가 있었다”고 지적했다.
